Southport may only be a small town, but we do play host to some pretty fun events throughout the year. This latest post is dedicated to the British Musical Fireworks Championship.
Every year, towards the end of September, when the night skies darken quickly and there is that chill in the air, the town of Southport entertains its public with the Firework Championship. It tends to run from a Friday night through to the Sunday with a total of 7 displays from world class pyrotechnic companies. There is usually a theme, and the idea is that the fireworks shoot up in time with the music. For that reason, many people choose to pay to enter the venue where they can properly appreciate the the music and the fireworks.
I personally just love the idea of the sky brightening up and watch the lights dance across their scene; this year I went with my friends and their delicious little girl, Sophia. We didn’t pay to go in to Victoria Park (event’s location) but we did find ourselves a great little spot on a bridge nearby.
All wrapped up with hats and scarves, muchies at the ready – malteasers of course- we were ready to enjoy the night’s show. It was also little Sophia’s first time seeing fireworks so it was good fun experiencing it with her. I love family and friend’s time 🙂
